About PatchPup
A safe, focused AI helper for young Scratch creators.
What is PatchPup?
PatchPup is an AI coding helper for children aged 8–14 who are building projects in Scratch. Instead of guessing at what your code does, Patch actually reads your project — your sprites, scripts, variables, and broadcasts — and gives help that is specific to what you built.
PatchPup is not a general chatbot. It stays focused on Scratch and your project. That keeps it useful, and it keeps it safe.
How it works
1. Share your project
Upload the .sb3 file you downloaded from Scratch, or paste a link to any public Scratch project. No account needed to get started.
2. Patch reads your code
PatchPup analyses your actual project structure — every sprite, script, and variable. It also runs a set of checks to spot common Scratch pitfalls before you even ask a question.
3. Get specific help
Pick a topic — fix a bug, explain my code, help with movement — or ask your own question. Patch gives clear, step-by-step answers that refer to your actual sprites and scripts by name.
Who made it
PatchPup was built by a parent who wanted a better way for their child to get coding help. Tools like ChatGPT are powerful, but they are not designed for children — they will answer any question, go off in any direction, and there is no way to keep them focused on the task at hand.
The idea was simple: build something that only does one thing, does it well, and is safe enough to hand to a child without worrying. PatchPup is that tool.
Safety and privacy
Scratch-only scope
Patch only answers questions about Scratch projects. Off-topic requests are redirected, not answered.
Conversations are moderated
Every message is checked before it reaches the AI, and every response is checked before it is shown. Blocked content is logged and may be reviewed by the PatchPup team.
Minimal data stored
We do not build profiles of children or store long-term history. Signed-in users can control how long conversation transcripts are kept in settings. The default is 30 days.
No child accounts
Children do not need to create an account to use PatchPup. Accounts are for parents who want to save settings and view conversation history.
